guest post + a giveaway! :]

I first want to apologize for not being able to post on my blog like I want too. This semester is extremely difficult for me & I am def. struggling to keep up. I barely sleep & I am super exhausted ALL the time. That is why I have reached out to people for their time to help me. I hope that you enjoy reading these guest posts that these amazing women have been graciously willing to give. I feel that my readers + comments dwindle when someone else is guest posting & that really bothers me. When you do a guest post for someone else, don't you get excited for others feedback? I know I do. I hope that you think about this when you are coming by my blog. Don't think that I don't have a million things that I want to write about bc I do --  I just honestly don't have the time or energy to write like I want to right now & I am very sorry for that. I hope you stick with me :]
Today I have Miss Alana from {Mrs. Alana's Miscellany} here to say hi to all you sunshines of mine! :] I have had the wonderful privilege of getting to know her over the last few weeks & when I mean get to know her I mean I learned stuff about her {& others} that is TOP SECRET! :] She is such a genuine person & full of life & I am so happy that she is here today to do a guest post & giveaway from her amazing new shop {alana in love}. Please leave her some love, check out her shop, & don't forget to enter the giveaway! Happy Thursday! xxoo.

I'm so honored to be guest posting for sweet Ashlyn today! I've learned that there are the bloggers that you stalk, some you correspond with, and a special few who become friends, and Ashlyn is one of the latter to me. Thanks to our video chat last week, I think we might even have enough information to blackmail each other, so I have to be extra careful not to offend her. (I kid! Sorta.)

This series is very close to my heart because my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was little. I still remember crying with her on the porch swing when she found out. I couldn't imagine something happening to her--the strong, outspoken matriarch of my family.

The next few months are a blur.  I don't know if it was just because I was so young or if my family intentionally kept the details from my siblings and me to keep us from worrying. I wish I knew more about what happened, but in a way I'm grateful that they protected us.
For the record, we didn't mean to coordinate; We were at a Bama game! #rolltide
Thankfully, Gran beat it! There were several surgeries, more doctor's appointments than you could count, and I'm sure, many more tears than we kids saw. One thing I do remember is that she was very hesitant to tell others about her cancer. I understand that it was completely her right to keep her condition private and I don't fault her for her decision. However, I think she missed out on a lot of support from friends and even strangers who would have helped her through the dark times.

This support is what I love most about blogging. For example, even though I recently moved over 800 miles from home and my husband is constantly traveling (aka leaving me all alone), I can always turn to my blog and twitter gals for a laugh, a sweet word, or just plain old sympathy.  And somehow, even though they are miles away, it makes it a little bit better.

So whatever you're going through, whether it's health problems, depression, or just a really bad day, remember that you're never alone--unless you want to be.

I hope you'll come by and say hello! Any friend of Ashlyn's is a friend of mine.  :)
